There are air purifying technologies that are not designed to capture 0.1 microns and can force potentially harmful particles and odours back into the room. It’s because they have a higher face velocity. This means they aggressively force air through their filters, causing some potentially harmful ultrafine particles to escape back into the room. Inefficient filters make this problem worse.
The Dyson Pure Cool™ Link fan technology is designed to remove 99.95% of particles as small as 0.1 microns. It has a lower face velocity. Combined with a high-efficiency HEPA filter, this means that potentially harmful ultrafine particles, as small as 0.1 microns, stay trapped in the filter media.
A filter with 99% efficiency expels 20 times more potentially harmful particles than a filter with 99.95% efficiency.
An extra 0.95% difference in filter efficiency might sound small, but the performance gap is huge.*
